A Late Surge Secures Victory

Martin Pospisil provided the decisive moment late in the third period, helping the visiting Calgary Flames secure a 4-2 victory over the Anaheim Ducks at the Honda Center on Tuesday. The win improved Calgary’s record to 1-5-0, while Anaheim fell to 4-2-0.

The game began with momentum shifting quickly between the two sides. Adam Klapka opened the scoring for Calgary in the first period with a snap shot assisted by Maksim Tsyplakov. However, the home team responded almost immediately. Beckett Sennecke tied the game at 1-1 with an unassisted wrist shot.

Ducks Take Early Lead

Anaheim seized control just moments later when Leo Carlsson found the back of the net. Carlsson’s snap shot was supported by two assists: one each from Mikael Granlund and Judd Caulfield. This gave the Ducks a 2-1 advantage after the first period.

Flames Tie It Up in the Second

Calgary returned with renewed intensity in the middle frame. Aydar Suniev leveled the score at 2-2 with a snap shot of his own. His effort was assisted by Ryan Strome and Simon Nemec, setting the stage for a tight contest as the teams entered the final period.

Pospisil and Sharangovich Seal the Win

The third period proved to be the turning point. Pospisil broke the tie with a snap shot, credited with assists from Suniev and Yan Kuznetsov, putting Calgary back in front at 3-2. The Flames did not stop there. Yegor Sharangovich added a wrist-shot goal later in the period, assisted by Mikael Backlund and Simon Nemec.

The final tally of 4-2 stood as the result. For Anaheim, Leo Carlsson was a standout performer with one goal and one point, while Granlund contributed an assist. On the Calgary side, Suniev was instrumental in both offense and playmaking, recording one goal and one assist for two points total.

The game drew 17,174 fans to the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. With this result, the Flames move to 2 points on the season, while the Ducks remain at 8 points.
