Betts Caps Massive Sixth Inning

Mookie Betts delivered the decisive blow in a lopsided contest, hitting a three-run home run to center field in the sixth inning. The 402-foot blast extended the Los Angeles Dodgers' lead to 10-1 and effectively sealed the game against the San Diego Padres. Betts’ homer was the final piece of a nine-run sixth-inning explosion that turned a close contest into a rout. The Dodgers’ offensive surge was anchored by Betts, who drove in three runs in a single swing, while his teammates capitalized on errors and timely hitting to pile on the runs.

Dodgers Offense Explodes in the Middle Frames

The Dodgers’ offense woke up in the sixth inning, turning a 2-1 lead into a 10-1 advantage. The inning began with a defensive miscue by Padres second baseman Wagner, who allowed Muncy to reach base safely on a fielding error. Muncy advanced to second on another error, and Edman scored on the play to make it 2-1. Edman then tripled to right field, bringing Muncy home for a 3-1 lead.

The inning continued to unravel for San Diego. Aaron Tucker homered to right field, a 398-foot shot that scored Edman to make it 5-1. Rushing followed with a 399-foot home run to right center, pushing the score to 6-1. Freeman scored on a groundout to second, making it 7-1. After Betts’ three-run homer, the Padres managed to score one run in the seventh inning when Tatis Jr. singled to left, driving in Wagner. However, the Dodgers answered in the eighth. Muncy reached on an infield single, scoring Ohtani to make it 11-3. Edman later scored on a groundout, and Tucker’s double in left field drove in two more runs, extending the lead to 14-3. Ward added an insurance run in the ninth with a single to right, scoring Pages for the final 15-3 tally.

Pitching Performance and Final Stats

Yoshinobu Yamamoto earned the win for Los Angeles, pitching six innings and allowing five hits and two earned runs while striking out four. He was supported by a bullpen effort that included Kyle Hurt, Alex Vesia, Jack Dreyer, and Miguel Rojas, who combined to allow no more earned runs. On the losing side, Randy Vasquez took the loss after allowing five earned runs on eight hits in 3.1 innings. He was joined in the Padres’ pitching rotation by Kyle Hart, Ron Marinaccio, David Morgan, and Rodolfo Duran.

The Padres’ only other home run came from Sheets, who hit a 414-foot shot to center in the fifth inning to tie the game 1-1. The final score reflected the Dodgers’ dominance, with the team finishing with 15 runs. The Padres finished with 3 runs. The game was played at Petco Park in San Diego, California, with an attendance of 45,159. After the game, the Los Angeles Dodgers improved their record to 53-30, while the San Diego Padres fell to 43-38.
