Danville is preparing for a weekend of festivities to mark America’s 250th anniversary, with the Kiwanis-Danville 4th of July Parade serving as a central event. Danville is located approximately 13 miles northwest of Pleasanton.
The parade is scheduled to take place from 9 a.m. to noon along Hartz Avenue and San Ramon Valley Boulevard. Organizers expect more than 100 participants, including local organizations, youth groups, bands, and community leaders. Members of the Danville Town Council will distribute commemorative bandanas and celebratory stickers to attendees while supplies last.
The procession will begin at San Ramon Valley High School at Railroad Avenue and conclude at Town and Country Drive. A full map of the route is available through local resources.
To secure viewing spots, sidewalk space is available on a first-come, first-served basis starting at 6 p.m. on Friday. Unattended chairs or items placed before that time are subject to removal. The use of chalk or tape to reserve spots is prohibited. Handicap-accessible ramps and sidewalk access points must remain clear. Accessible seating is provided at the grandstand viewing area located at Oak Court and San Ramon Valley Boulevard.
Several streets will be tentatively closed for the event. Closures include Danville Boulevard between El Cerro Boulevard and Railroad Avenue, Railroad Avenue between Hartz Avenue and Love Lane, La Gonda Way between El Cerro Boulevard and Danville Boulevard, and Prospect Avenue between Hartz Avenue and Front Street. Additional closures affect East Linda Mesa Avenue between Hartz Avenue and the Rose Street Parking Lot, Hartz Avenue between Railroad Avenue and Hartz Way, San Ramon Valley Boulevard between Hartz Way and Town and Country Drive, and Town and Country Drive between San Ramon Valley Boulevard and Sheri Lane.
