The Town of Danville is observing July as Parks and Recreation Month, aligning with a national effort to recognize the role of community spaces in fostering connection and well-being. The 2026 theme, "The Power Of," emphasizes how local facilities bring residents together. Danville, located approximately 13 miles northwest of Pleasanton, highlights its neighborhood parks, youth and adult programs, and community events as central to the town's quality of life.
Local parks provide amenities such as playgrounds, picnic areas, sports fields, walking paths, bocce courts, and open space access. These facilities are designed for exercise, relaxation, and gathering. Residents can find details on park locations and amenities at danville.ca.gov/parks. The town also promotes Danville Loves Summer, an online guide featuring family-friendly programs, outdoor entertainment, and downtown activities.
In addition to the monthly observance, Danville is preparing for Independence Day festivities that coincide with America’s 250th anniversary. The celebrations begin Friday, July 3, at 10 a.m. with a proclamation presentation to Veterans Service Organizations at the Veterans Memorial Building in Downtown Danville. This event honors the service and sacrifice of veterans as the town prepares for the national milestone.
The main celebration occurs Saturday, July 4, with the Kiwanis-Danville 4th of July Parade. The event runs from 9 a.m. to noon along Hartz Avenue and San Ramon Valley Boulevard. Hosted by the Kiwanis Club of the San Ramon Valley in partnership with the town, the parade features residents, visitors, local organizations, youth groups, bands, and community leaders. More than 100 groups are expected to participate in the procession, which takes approximately two to three hours to complete.
The parade route begins at the north end of Hartz Avenue near San Ramon Valley High School and concludes at Town and Country Drive. America’s 250th anniversary will be highlighted along the route with car magnets displayed on town parade vehicles. Town Council members will distribute commemorative bandanas and stickers to attendees while supplies last.
