Oasis Restaurant & Wine Lounge is leaving its home at 780 Main Street for a 4,000-square-foot space across the street inside the historic Pleasanton Hotel, next to Rubys & Roses.
Owner Sadaf Shaghasi, who also runs Rubys & Roses, said Wednesday, Oct. 14, was set as the restaurant's last day at the Main Street address, and that Oasis plans to reopen in the hotel in early November.
"The move is exciting because it is the same cuisine that people love for the past 22 years but yet it's going to be in such a new environment and also a building that has so much history," Shaghasi said.
She said the building's owner approached her about the space, which had sat empty for about four years. The move has been in the works for roughly a year, and the city signed off about five months ago. Workers are now redoing the kitchen and adding drapes, chandeliers, paint and lighting.
The menu will stay the same, mixing Mediterranean, Middle Eastern and Afghan dishes such as chicken and beef kabobs, mantoo dumplings, aushak and the restaurant's pumpkin borani, along with wine, beer and cocktails. The hotel's wraparound bar seats up to 20 people, more than the current bar, and the new site has a parking lot with room for up to 50 cars. It will not have the large patio Oasis has now; Shaghasi said groups wanting outdoor space can arrange events through Rubys & Roses.
