The game was effectively decided in the first half, as San Antonio outscored Sacramento 80-54 after two quarters. The Spurs opened with a 39-29 first-quarter lead, fueled by aggressive interior play and efficient perimeter shooting. Wembanyama was particularly effective in the paint, finishing multiple alley-oop dunks and mid-range jumpers.
Devin Vassell provided crucial support, recording 8 assists and hitting several long-range shots, including a 23-foot three-pointer early in the first period. The Kings, led by De'Andre Hunter’s 24 points, struggled to find consistent rhythm against the Spurs’ defensive pressure, managing only 25 points in the second quarter.
San Antonio’s second-quarter surge was highlighted by a stretch of three-pointers from Julian Champagnie and Stephon Castle, who combined for multiple long-range buckets. The Spurs extended their lead to 32 points by the half, with Wembanyama and Vassell orchestrating the offense with precision. Sacramento’s Domantas Sabonis contributed 8 assists and 14 rebounds, but the Kings’ scoring output was insufficient to close the gap.
