Ray's Masterclass
Robbie Ray delivered a dominant performance on the mound, pitching eight innings of scoreless baseball to secure the victory for the San Francisco Giants. Ray allowed just four hits and one walk while striking out two batters, ultimately earning the win and improving his record to 7-6. His ability to neutralize the Atlanta Braves' lineup was the cornerstone of the Giants' offensive output, which proved sufficient in a low-scoring affair.
Braves Take Early Lead
The Atlanta Braves struck first in the sixth inning, capitalizing on defensive miscues by the Giants. Devers reached on an infield single to third base, setting the stage for Arraez to score on a throwing error by third baseman Riley. Ramos also reached safely on the error, putting Atlanta ahead 1-0. The Braves extended their lead later in the inning when Lee reached on an infield single to second, allowing Ramos to score on another error. A subsequent throwing error by second baseman Albies allowed Devers to score from second, giving Atlanta a 2-0 advantage.
The Braves increased their margin in the seventh inning when Arraez hit a sacrifice fly to right field, driving in Gilbert to make the score 3-0. The Giants began their comeback attempt in the eighth inning. Harris II hit a sacrifice fly to left field, scoring White to put the Giants on the board, making it 3-1. The Giants continued to chip away at the lead in the ninth inning. Riley grounded out to first base, but the play allowed Olson to score, narrowing the gap to 3-2.
