Giants Batters Dominate Early Frames
The San Francisco Giants offense delivered a decisive blow to the Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday, overwhelming starting pitcher Chase Burns in the first two innings to build an insurmountable lead. The winning effort was highlighted by a powerful home run that shifted the momentum entirely in San Francisco's favor.
Giants’ hitters made immediate contact against Burns, who allowed nine hits and five earned runs over 3.2 innings. The scoring began in the top of the first inning when Lee singled to center field, allowing Gilbert to score from second base while moving Devers to third.
On the next play, Hill doubled to right field, driving in Gilbert and forcing a throw home that resulted in Lee being thrown out.
The offensive surge continued in the second inning with a decisive blast by Devers. He connected on a pitch and launched a 427-foot home run to right center field, clearing the bases. The blast scored Koss and Gilbert, adding three runs to the board and extending San Francisco’s lead to 5-0 before Burns was removed from the game.
Pitching Staff Maintains Shutout
After Burns exited, the Giants’ bullpen worked efficiently to preserve the shutout. Carson Whisenhunt started for San Francisco, pitching 2.2 innings and allowing two hits while striking out three batters. He was followed by Jason Foley, who earned the win with a perfect outing of 1.1 innings, retiring all five batters he faced without allowing a hit, run, or walk, and recording three strikeouts.
Reiver Sanmartin pitched one inning of scoreless relief, facing one batter and securing an out. Ryan Walker then took the mound for two innings, giving up two hits but maintaining the shutout with two strikeouts. Carson Seymour closed out the early innings with a perfect 1.0-inning appearance, striking out two batters.
