Jed York, the owner of the San Francisco 49ers, was arrested in East Palestine, Ohio, during a prostitution crackdown conducted by local police. Following his arrest, he pleaded no contest to charges of disorderly conduct and possessing criminal tools, with initial charges of engaging in prostitution later amended.

Court records indicate that York, who has a residence in Youngstown, Ohio, paid a total of $1,150 in fines and $135 in court fees. Additionally, he paid $50 to request the expungement of the misdemeanor charges. The court documents also noted that $160 seized from him would be forfeited to the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force, while his cellphone would be returned.

York's arraignment took place at 8:30 a.m., after which he settled his fees. The 49ers organization declined to comment, stating that the situation was a legal matter that has been resolved. The NFL acknowledged awareness of the incident, indicating it would be reviewed under the league's personal conduct policy.

Steve Irwin, a spokesperson for the Ohio Attorney General’s Office, mentioned that York's arrest was part of routine enforcement activities by the human trafficking task force, but he did not provide further details. He referred inquiries about the charge amendment to the Columbiana County Prosecutor’s Office, which did not respond to requests for comment.

York, 46, has been involved with the 49ers for over two decades and became the principal owner two years ago, ensuring his family's continued control of the team. His family has a long history with the franchise, with ownership dating back to 2000 when his parents took over from his uncle, Eddie DeBartolo, who faced legal issues related to a gambling scandal.

The incident is not the first prostitution-related scandal in NFL ownership, as New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft faced similar charges in 2019, which were later dropped. York is the eldest of four siblings and is married with two sons. Further details regarding the case remain unclear.
