NFL Network insider Mike Garafolo reported that Patrick Herbert had received offers from multiple teams but chose to reunite with Justin after conducting thorough research on the Chargers' starting quarterback.
Head coach Jim Harbaugh will now have both Herbert brothers on the roster, potentially leading to humorous moments during practice when he calls out "Herbert!". Patrick Herbert is expected to provide depth at the tight end position, having previously excelled during his time at the University of Oregon.
At Oregon, he played from 2019 to 2024, missing the 2020 season due to COVID-19. He recorded four touchdown catches between 2022 and 2023, including a notable two-touchdown game against Washington in October 2023. After declaring for the 2025 NFL Draft and going undrafted, he signed with the Jaguars but has now transitioned to the Chargers, marking a return to play alongside his brother.
