California answered Virginia Tech’s late touchdown with a 57-second scoring drive, then defended its end zone on the final play to win 25–20 in Berkeley on Saturday, Oct. 10.
The Golden Bears drove 75 yards in six plays and scored on a 2-yard run with 18 seconds remaining. Virginia Tech still reached Cal’s 7-yard line before a pass breakup ended the game, according to Cal Athletics.
The victory brought Cal to 3–3 overall and 2–1 in ACC play. Its final drive followed a much longer fourth-quarter touchdown march that took more than seven minutes.
