Poehling sparks Anaheim

Ryan Poehling scored once and added an assist as the Anaheim Ducks defeated the Calgary Flames 4-2 on Sunday, Oct. 11, 2026, at Scotiabank Saddledome. Anaheim, the visiting team, improved to 4-1-0 with the victory, while Calgary fell to 0-5-0.

Poehling scored the go-ahead goal in the third period and finished with two points. Mikael Granlund recorded two assists for the Ducks, while Matt Coronato had two assists and two points for the Flames.

Ducks answer Calgary’s early goal

Jackson LaCombe opened the scoring for Anaheim in the first period, with assists from Leo Carlsson and Granlund. Calgary answered when Morgan Frost scored to make it 1-1, assisted by Coronato and Simon Nemec.

The Ducks regained the lead before the period ended. Frank Vatrano scored on a deflection, with Poehling and Noah Warren assisting, giving Anaheim a 2-1 edge after 20 minutes.

Flames tie it, Anaheim pulls away

Calgary erased the deficit in the second period. Aydar Suniev scored on a wrist shot, assisted by Coronato, leaving the teams tied 2-2 after two periods.

Anaheim moved back in front in the third when Poehling scored on a snap shot, with Pavel Mintyukov assisting. Nikita Nesterenko then added the Ducks’ fourth goal on a poke, assisted by Alex Killorn and Granlund, to complete the 4-2 scoring.

Records and setting

The Ducks finished with four goals, including two in the first period, none in the second and two in the third. The Flames scored once in each of the first two periods and did not score in the third.

The game was played in Calgary, where the Flames were the home team. Attendance at Scotiabank Saddledome was 16,894. Anaheim’s record is now 4-1-0 with eight points, and Calgary’s is 0-5-0 with zero points.
