Bouchard Dominates Second Period
Evan Bouchard was the catalyst for the Edmonton Oilers’ offensive surge on Wednesday, delivering two goals to help secure a 5-2 victory over the Anaheim Ducks. The win improves Edmonton’s record to 3-0-1, while the Ducks fall to 2-1-0 after hosting the contest at the Honda Center.
Anaheim opened the scoring in the first period, taking a 2-0 lead before Edmonton could respond. Beckett Sennecke was the primary threat for Anaheim, recording two goals. His first came via a snap shot assisted by Mikael Granlund and Leo Carlsson. He later doubled his tally with a tip-in goal, also credited to assists from Carlsson and Jackson LaCombe.
Oilers Turn the Tide
The momentum shifted entirely in the second period, where Edmonton scored five unanswered goals. Bouchard struck first with a slap shot assisted by Leon Draisaitl, cutting the deficit to 2-1. Kasperi Kapanen then tied the game at 2-2 with a snap shot, powered by assists from Connor McDavid and Bouchard.
Edmonton immediately regained the lead when Bouchard scored his second goal of the night on another slap shot, this time with help from Draisaitl and McDavid. The Oilers’ offense continued to press forward. Vasily Podkolzin added a goal assisted by Draisaitl, making it 4-2. Connor McDavid capped the period with a snap shot goal, assisted by Draisaitl and Mattias Ekholm, and neither team scored in the third.
