Langeliers Leads Offensive Surge
Langeliers delivered the decisive blow for the Sacramento Athletics, hitting his 20th home run of the season to help lift the team to a 7-1 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Thursday. The win marked the end of a four-game losing streak for the home squad.
The Athletics jumped ahead early in the fourth inning. Butler grounded out to shortstop, allowing Heim to score and put the hosts up 2-1. Bolte followed with a single to center field, driving in Kuroda-Grauer to extend the lead to 3-1.
Dodgers and Athletics Exchange Blows
The Dodgers had taken a 1-0 lead in the second inning when Heim homered to center field, a 444-foot shot. They tied the game in the third when Freeman homered to right center, a 431-foot drive.
The Athletics regained the lead in the fifth inning. Langeliers launched a 433-foot home run to left center. Thomas doubled to center field, scoring Kurtz. Heim then singled to left, bringing Thomas home to make it 6-1.
Williams added an insurance run in the eighth inning with a 404-foot home run to left center, capping the scoring at 7-1.
