Ginn's Sharp Performance Anchors Victory
J.T. Ginn delivered a masterful pitching performance to lead the Athletics to a 15-1 win over the Washington Nationals. Ginn worked 6.1 innings, allowing just one hit while striking out seven batters and walking three. He did not surrender an earned run, setting a dominant tone for Sacramento's offense. He earned the win, improving his record to 8-6.
Early Offensive Explosion
The Athletics jumped on Nationals starter Zack Littell immediately, scoring eight runs in the first inning. The scoring began with Wilson hitting a 411-foot home run to left field. The rally continued with Cortes doubling to center to drive in Soderstrom, followed by Kuroda-Grauer doubling to right to score Cortes.
Heim singled to center to bring in Kuroda-Grauer, and Butler grounded into a fielder's choice to score Walton.
In the second inning, the Athletics added another run. Kuroda-Grauer grounded into a fielder's choice, allowing Wilson to score. The Nationals' pitching struggled throughout the game. Littell took the loss, falling to 7-7 after allowing eight runs on eight hits over six innings.
Continued Assault in Later Innings
Sacramento extended its lead significantly in the seventh inning. Soderstrom hit a 406-foot home run to right center, scoring McNeil. Cortes followed with a 394-foot home run to left center. The inning continued with McNeil singling to right to score Walton, and Wilson singling to center to score Butler. Langeliers then doubled to right, driving in three more runs to make it 14-0.
