PLEASANTON, California — The window for Pleasanton residents to help shape the search for the city's next top administrator closes today at 5 p.m., as the City Council wraps up a community survey on the qualities and experience desired in the next permanent city manager.

The City Council is seeking broad community input on what residents, business owners, employees and visitors want in the person who will oversee the city's day-to-day operations, implement council priorities and manage the delivery of municipal services.

"The survey is open through June 29, 2026, at 5:00 p.m.," the city posted on its website. Residents are encouraged to participate regardless of how long they have lived in or worked in Pleasanton.

The city manager serves as the chief administrative officer, responsible for carrying out policies set by the elected City Council and managing all city departments. The recruitment comes as Pleasanton, a city of approximately 80,000 residents in the Tri-Valley region, continues to navigate growth, infrastructure needs and economic development.

The survey can be accessed through the city's website at cityofpleasantonca.gov.

In a separate notice, the city has also requested that Tri-Valley residents voluntarily reduce outdoor water use through July 2 due to planned State Water Project maintenance affecting the region's water supply.
