Pleasanton-based 10x Genomics says more than 100 customers have booked projects through its Catalyst Research Services program in five months, giving researchers access to its new Atera technology through a service rather than an instrument purchase.
In a Sept. 29 announcement, the company said it was preparing to process the service’s first customer samples. It also announced that commercial shipments of Atera instruments had begun worldwide. The customer count describes booked projects, not completed studies.
The service accepts research samples for whole-transcriptome spatial analysis, which examines gene activity while retaining information about where it occurs within tissue. Customers receive data and review it with a 10x bioinformatics specialist, according to the program’s website.
The company’s announcement also outlined plans for three Atera instruments at the Allen Institute, supporting immunology, neuroscience and synthetic biology research. Those planned installations were described separately from the initial worldwide shipments; the release did not report that all three had been delivered.
10x Genomics lists its headquarters and multiple offices on Stoneridge Mall Road in Pleasanton.
