Admera Health and 10x Genomics have announced a partnership to launch a grant program designed for industry research teams. The initiative offers complimentary single-cell sequencing services utilizing the new 10x Genomics Flex Apex Kit. The program targets researchers at biotech, biopharma, and pharmaceutical companies who have active projects suitable for single-cell fixed-sample analysis.
The Flex Apex Kit allows for gene expression profiling of fixed and formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) samples. This capability supports the study of cellular heterogeneity, disease mechanisms, and therapeutic responses at the individual cell level. The grant aims to help researchers generate real data from precious pre-clinical and clinical materials, which are often central to drug discovery and translational research.
Admera Health is offering three prize tiers, all sourced from a single 96-reaction Flex Apex Kit. Winners receive the complete end-to-end workflow, including kit reagents, library preparation, and sequencing, at no cost. A joint review committee composed of representatives from both Admera Health and 10x Genomics will select the winners. Selection criteria include research creativity, scientific impact, and innovation.
Yun Zhao, chief executive officer of Admera Health, stated that industry teams often possess strong ideas but lack the internal capacity to test them before formal funding. He noted that the program provides a no-cost opportunity for researchers to generate data on fixed or FFPE samples. This allows teams to build a case for larger programs using concrete results rather than hypotheses alone.
Selected winners will be invited to present their findings in a webinar co-hosted by both companies. The event will be open to all applicants and the broader research community. All samples will be processed at Admera Health’s facility in South Plainfield, New Jersey. The facility holds CLIA, CLEP, and CAP certifications.
