Lunit, a South Korean company specializing in artificial intelligence for cancer diagnostics, has announced a collaboration with 10x Genomics, Inc. The US-based biotechnology firm will incorporate Lunit’s SCOPE IO platform into its oncology biomarker discovery processes.
The partnership involves using Lunit SCOPE IO to analyze Hematoxylin and Eosin pathology images. These images will be examined alongside spatial molecular data generated from 10x Genomics’ clinical research studies. The integration combines molecular insights from 10x’s Xenium and Atera spatial platforms with tissue characterization provided by Lunit’s software.
According to the announcement, the goal is to understand the relationship between tissue morphology and tumor biology. The companies aim to identify biomarkers linked to treatment response and resistance. Initially, this work will support clinical research studies focused on antibody-drug conjugates and immunotherapy response prediction. These efforts are part of a broader initiative to explore diagnostic applications of spatial technologies in oncology.
Lunit SCOPE IO utilizes deep learning to process whole-slide pathology images. The software characterizes various tissue features, including tumor and stromal regions, immune-cell distribution, and tertiary lymphoid structures. By providing additional tissue context, the platform complements molecular profiling in clinical research settings.
