Pleasanton residents hoping to claim a free tree this fall now need to join a waitlist: the city’s request form says all 50 trees have been reserved.

The giveaway is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 17, 2026, at the Pleasanton Farmers’ Market. Residents with reservations must be available to collect their five-gallon tree from 9 to 10 a.m. Pacific time.

The city’s October newsletter says any trees remaining after that pickup window will be offered first come, first served from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. That is a chance to obtain an unclaimed tree, not a guarantee that one will be available.

The program is for Pleasanton residents. The city describes four species to choose from and says trees are available only while supplies last. Its online form now accepts requests for the waitlist rather than confirming a reservation.
