Pleasanton, California — Gas prices in the Oakland area averaged $5.4620 per gallon for regular unleaded on July 2, 2026, according to AAA, down from $5.4780 yesterday. That is down from $5.5770 a week ago and lower than $6.1000 a month ago.
The statewide average in California stands at $5.4010, while the national average is $3.8380. Drivers in the Oakland area are paying above the state average and above the national average.
The Oakland average remains below its recorded high of $6.5480, set on June 11, 2022. Regular prices are about 64 cents lower than a month ago. Compared with a year ago, when the metro average was $4.6580, drivers are paying about 80 cents more per gallon.
Diesel in the Oakland area averages $6.5210 per gallon, AAA reported.
