Pleasanton, California — Gas prices in the Oakland area averaged $5.4200 per gallon for regular unleaded on July 12, 2026, according to AAA, down from $5.4220 yesterday. That is down from $5.4460 a week ago and lower than $5.8590 a month ago.
The statewide average in California stands at $5.3890, while the national average is $3.8760. Drivers in the Oakland area are paying above the state average and above the national average.
The Oakland average remains below its AAA recorded high of $6.5480. Regular prices are about 44 cents lower than a month ago. Compared with a year ago, when the metro average was $4.5900, drivers are paying about 83 cents more per gallon.
