Pleasanton, California — Gas prices in the Oakland area averaged $5.4070 per gallon for regular unleaded on July 15, 2026, according to AAA, up from $5.4050 yesterday. That is down from $5.4180 a week ago and lower than $5.8040 a month ago.
The statewide average in California stands at $5.3850, while the national average is $3.8900. Drivers in the Oakland area are paying above the state average and above the national average.
The Oakland average remains below its AAA recorded high of $6.5480. Regular prices are about 40 cents lower than a month ago. Compared with a year ago, when the metro average was $4.5890, drivers are paying about 82 cents more per gallon.
Diesel in the Oakland area averages $6.4720 per gallon, AAA reported.
