Pleasanton, California — Gas prices in the Oakland area averaged $5.4440 per gallon for regular unleaded on July 17, 2026, according to AAA, up from $5.4180 yesterday. That is up from $5.4370 a week ago but lower than $5.7430 a month ago.
The statewide average in California stands at $5.4300, while the national average is $3.9810. Drivers in the Oakland area are paying above the state average and above the national average.
The Oakland average remains below its AAA recorded high of $6.5480. Regular prices are about 30 cents lower than a month ago. Compared with a year ago, when the metro average was $4.5670, drivers are paying about 88 cents more per gallon.
Diesel in the Oakland area averages $6.5560 per gallon, AAA reported.
