Pleasanton, California — Gas prices in the Oakland area averaged $5.5510 per gallon for regular unleaded on July 22, 2026, according to AAA, up from $5.5200 yesterday. That is up from $5.4070 a week ago but lower than $5.6400 a month ago.
The statewide average in California stands at $5.5450, while the national average is $4.0600. Drivers in the Oakland area are paying above the state average and above the national average.
The Oakland average remains below its AAA recorded high of $6.5480. Regular prices are about 9 cents lower than a month ago. Compared with a year ago, when the metro average was $4.5460, drivers are paying about 100 cents more per gallon.
Diesel in the Oakland area averages $6.6830 per gallon, AAA reported.
