Pleasanton, California — Gas prices in the Oakland area averaged $5.6500 per gallon for regular unleaded on July 29, 2026, according to AAA, down from $5.6570 yesterday. That is up from $5.5510 a week ago but higher than $5.5190 a month ago.
The statewide average in California stands at $5.6460, while the national average is $4.0910. Drivers in the Oakland area are paying above the state average and above the national average.
The Oakland average remains below its AAA recorded high of $6.5480. Regular prices are about 13 cents higher than a month ago. Compared with a year ago, when the metro average was $4.5340, drivers are paying about 112 cents more per gallon.
Diesel in the Oakland area averages $6.8350 per gallon, AAA reported.
