Pleasanton, California — Gas prices in the Oakland area averaged $6.4634 per gallon for regular unleaded on October 2, 2026, according to AAA, down from $6.4637 yesterday. That is up from $6.3544 a week ago but higher than $5.7454 a month ago.
The statewide average in California stands at $6.4008, while the national average is $4.3961. Drivers in the Oakland area are paying above the state average and above the national average.
The Oakland average remains below its AAA recorded high of $6.5480. Regular prices are about 72 cents higher than a month ago. Compared with a year ago, when the metro average was $4.6281, drivers are paying about 184 cents more per gallon.
