Pleasanton, California — Gas prices in the Oakland area averaged $6.4558 per gallon for regular unleaded on October 5, 2026, according to AAA, up from $6.4543 yesterday. That is up from $6.4202 a week ago but higher than $5.8527 a month ago.
The statewide average in California stands at $6.3916, while the national average is $4.3653. Drivers in the Oakland area are paying above the state average and above the national average.
The Oakland average remains below its AAA recorded high of $6.5480. Regular prices are about 60 cents higher than a month ago. Compared with a year ago, when the metro average was $4.6347, drivers are paying about 182 cents more per gallon.
Diesel in the Oakland area averages $8.6126 per gallon, AAA reported.
