Golden State’s early lead was just large enough Wednesday, Oct. 7. The Valkyries beat the Las Vegas Aces 83–81 at Chase Center in San Francisco, taking a 2–0 lead in their best-of-five WNBA semifinal series.
The Valkyries won the first quarter 19–11 and the second 23–20 to lead 42–31 at halftime. A 24–24 third quarter kept the margin at 11 points, with Golden State ahead 66–55.
Las Vegas made up most of that ground in the fourth, outscoring Golden State 26–17. The Aces finished two points short, leaving the Valkyries one victory from the Finals.
Game 3 moves to Michelob ULTRA Arena in Las Vegas on Friday, Oct. 9, at 6:30 p.m. Pacific. Golden State can finish the series there; the Aces need three straight wins to advance.
