Ogunbowale Dominates in Overtime Thriller

Arike Ogunbowale erupted for a game-high 45 points to drive the Dallas Wings to a 108-100 victory over the Golden State Valkyries on Wednesday. The decisive win at the College Park Center in Arlington, Texas, leveled the WNBA First Round series at 1-1.

With 6,251 fans in attendance, the Wings proved resilient in a contest that stretched into overtime, with Ogunbowale providing the critical scoring surge down the stretch.

Back-and-Forth Battle

The game was tightly contested from the opening tip. Golden State took a 26-23 lead after the first quarter, but Dallas responded with a 27-point second quarter to take a 50-45 lead at halftime. The momentum swung again in the third quarter, where the Valkyries outscored the Wings 29-22 to jump ahead 74-72 entering the final period.

The fourth quarter remained neck-and-neck, with both teams trading baskets to force a tie at 100 points apiece, necessitating extra time.

Overtime Decider

Overtime served as the stage for Ogunbowale’s individual brilliance. She hit a 28-foot jump bank shot early in the extra period and later drained a 24-foot step-back three-pointer to extend the Wings' lead. Jessica Shepard contributed significantly with eight rebounds and six assists, providing the necessary floor balance to support the star scorer.

The Wings maintained their composure under pressure, securing the eight-point margin despite the Valkyries' late-run efforts.

Series Status

The result leaves the First Round series tied at 1-1, setting the stage for the next matchup. Golden State’s Gabby Williams finished with 36 points, seven assists, and six rebounds, keeping her team competitive throughout the regulation clock. However, the Wings’ depth and Ogunbowale’s final-quarter and overtime production proved decisive in keeping the series alive.
