Neto provides the early separation
Neto delivered the Angels’ biggest swing Thursday, hitting a three-run home run in a 4-1 win over the Baltimore Orioles at Oriole Park at Camden Yards.
Los Angeles, the away team, broke through in the top of the third inning. Neto homered to center, a 411-foot drive that scored Meckler and Schanuel and gave the Angels a 3-0 lead. It was the Angels’ only home run of the game and one of two home runs overall.
Baltimore answered in the bottom of the third. Pozo homered to left center, a 397-foot shot, cutting the Angels’ lead to 3-1. That was the Orioles’ lone scoring play.
Schanuel adds the final run
The score stayed 3-1 until the seventh inning, when Los Angeles added its fourth run. Schanuel hit a sacrifice fly to right, bringing in Meckler and moving Trout to third. That made it 4-1, which stood as the final score.
The Angels’ scoring came on two plays: Neto’s three-run homer in the third and Schanuel’s sacrifice fly in the seventh. Baltimore’s run came on Pozo’s homer in the third. The game’s two home runs were Neto’s 411-foot drive to center and Pozo’s 397-foot drive to left center.
