Yamamoto sets the tone

Yoshinobu Yamamoto struck out 10 over seven innings as the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Atlanta Braves 3-1 in Game 3 of the National League Division Series on Tuesday at Truist Park. The win gives Los Angeles a 2-1 lead in the best-of-five series.

A crowd of 42,420 watched in Atlanta.

Two homers in the fourth

Both teams were scoreless until the fourth inning, when the Dodgers did all of their scoring. Enrique Hernández hit a 406-foot home run to left field that also brought in Andy Pages, and Freddie Freeman followed later in the inning with a 399-foot solo shot to right center. Those two swings produced all three Los Angeles runs.

Atlanta gets one back

The Braves answered in the fifth. Drake Baldwin grounded out to first base, and Mauricio Dubón scored on the play for Atlanta's only run.

The Dodgers' bullpen held the lead from there. Tanner Scott worked a scoreless eighth and was credited with a hold, and Edwin Díaz pitched the ninth for the save.

On the mound

Yamamoto allowed one run on four hits and one walk and earned the win, his first of the postseason. Chris Sale took the loss for Atlanta after giving up three runs on seven hits, two of them home runs, in five innings. He struck out seven.

The Dodgers went 100-62 in the regular season, and the Braves went 94-68.
