Yamamoto Throws 7 Innings, Striking Out 10 as Dodgers Beat Reds 14-1

Yamamoto Dominates on the Mound

Yoshinobu Yamamoto delivered a standout performance, pitching seven innings of one-run ball while striking out 10 batters. He allowed three hits and one walk, securing the win to improve his record to 13-8. The Los Angeles Dodgers used this strong pitching effort to rout the visiting Cincinnati Reds, 14-1, at Dodger Stadium before an attendance of 45,252.

Dodgers Build a Massive Lead

The Dodgers (89-57) took an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning when T. Hernández scored on a ground ball into a double play. The margin widened significantly in the third when Mookie Betts hit a two-run home run to left-center field, extending the lead to 3-0.

Cincinnati responded with its only run of the game in the top of the fourth, as Nicky Lopez hit a solo home run to center field. However, the Dodgers quickly reasserted control in the bottom of the fourth, scoring six runs. This rally included a double by Freeland, a double by E. Hernández, and a wild pitch that allowed E. Hernández to score.

The Dodgers added two more runs in the fourth on a single by T. Hernández, which drove in Smith and Betts.

Late-Inning Power Adds to the Total

The Dodgers continued to add runs in the middle innings. In the sixth, Muncy hit a two-run home run to right field, pushing the score to 11-1. The seventh inning brought another two-run homer from E. Hernández to left field, increasing the lead to 13-1.

The final run came in the eighth inning when Tucker hit a solo home run to right-center field, capping off the 14-1 victory. The Reds (69-77) were limited to just one run on five hits, with the team’s four hits coming from home runs.

Yamamoto was supported by Blake Treinen, who pitched one inning of two-hit, no-earned-run ball with two strikeouts. Seth Halvorsen closed the game with one hit allowed, no earned runs, and one strikeout. For Cincinnati, starter Rhett Lowder took the loss, allowing seven hits and seven earned runs in three and one-third innings.

He was followed by Luis Mey, Julian Garcia, Pierce Johnson, Tony Santillan, and Jose Trevino. The Dodgers now hold an 89-57 record, while the Reds stand at 69-77.
