The right-hander retired batters over seven full innings, allowing just two hits and one earned run while striking out six. Offense Ignites in Late Innings
The scoring sequence began in the fourth inning when Rojas hit a sacrifice fly to right field, allowing Freeman to score and give the Dodgers a 1-0 lead. Detroit answered immediately in the bottom half of the fourth, with McGonigle singling to left field to bring in Torres and tie the game at 1-1.
The balance of power shifted in the sixth inning when T. Hernández hit a home run to left center field, traveling 434 feet, with Freeman also crossing the plate to extend the Dodgers lead to 3-1. The game was decided in the eighth inning, where a combination of wild pitches from Tanner Rainey and a single by Muncy produced three additional runs for Los Angeles.
Betts and T. Hernández both scored on wild pitches, while Muncy’s single to right field drove in Freeman and moved T. Hernández to third. T. Hernández later scored on another wild pitch, capping an 8th-inning surge that put the Dodgers up 6-1.
