Langeliers and Heim Lead the Charge
Lars Langeliers and Logan Heim provided the offensive spark for the Athletics, each launching a home run to help secure a 7-1 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Thursday at Sutter Health Park. The win snapped a four-game skid for the home team, who improved their record to 41-46, while the Dodgers fell to 56-31.
Heim opened the scoring in the second inning with a 444-foot home run to center field, giving the Athletics an early 1-0 lead. The Dodgers responded in the third when Freeman homered to right center, tying the game at 1-1. However, the Athletics took control in the fourth inning. Butler grounded out to shortstop, allowing Heim to score and move Kuroda-Grauer to third. Bolte then singled to center field, driving in Kuroda-Grauer to make it 3-1.
Athletics Extend Advantage
The Athletics added to their lead in the fifth inning. Langeliers hit a 433-foot home run to left-center field, making it 4-1. Thomas followed with a double to center field, scoring Kurtz for a 5-1 advantage. Heim then singled to left field, bringing Thomas home to extend the lead to 6-1.
The Dodgers managed to score in the eighth inning when Williams homered to left-center field, making the final score 7-1. The Athletics' bullpen closed out the game, with Luis Medina pitching 1.2 innings and Hogan Harris earning the save with 1.1 innings of scoreless relief.
