C. Kelly, Busch power Cubs past Dodgers 10-5 at Wrigley Field

C. Kelly hit a two-run homer and drew a run-scoring walk as the Chicago Cubs defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 10-5 on Tuesday at Wrigley Field.

C. Kelly adds key damage

C. Kelly hit a two-run homer and later drew a run-scoring walk, and the Chicago Cubs beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 10-5 on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at Wrigley Field.

Busch also delivered two scoring plays for Chicago, homering in the fifth inning and singling in the sixth on a play that brought in two more runs. The Cubs finished with 10 runs after falling behind by three in the first inning.

Dodgers strike first, Cubs answer

Los Angeles opened the scoring in the top of the first when Edman homered to left, with Ohtani and Pages scoring ahead of him for a 3-0 lead.

Chicago responded in the bottom half. Suzuki homered to left center, scoring Crow-Armstrong and cutting the Dodgers’ lead to 3-2.

The Cubs moved in front in the second. Alcántara homered to left center, bringing in Swanson and putting Chicago ahead 4-3. In the third, C. Kelly homered to left, with Bregman scoring, extending the Cubs’ lead to 6-3.

Chicago pulls away in the sixth

The Dodgers got a run in the fourth when Alfonzo singled to center and Tucker scored on a fielding error by center fielder Crow-Armstrong, with T. Hernández moving to second. Busch answered in the fifth with a homer to left center, making it 7-4.

Los Angeles cut the margin again in the sixth on T. Hernández’s homer to left center. Chicago then widened the lead in the bottom of the inning. C. Kelly walked with the bases loaded, scoring Happ and moving Suzuki to second and Crow-Armstrong to third after a Cubs challenge overturned the call on the field.

Busch followed with a single to right. Crow-Armstrong scored, and Suzuki scored on a throwing error by right fielder Tucker, with Busch reaching second and C. Kelly reaching third on the error.

Boyd gets win as Cubs improve

Matthew Boyd earned the win for Chicago, allowing nine hits and four earned runs with one walk and three strikeouts in 6.2 innings. Trent Thornton pitched 1.1 innings with no hits, no walks and one strikeout, and Jake Woodford allowed one hit in one inning.

Justin Wrobleski took the loss for Los Angeles after allowing seven hits and seven earned runs with three walks and four strikeouts in 4.1 innings. The Cubs improved to 64-49, while the Dodgers fell to 69-44. Attendance was 39,384.
