Turner Powers Phillies Offense
Trea Turner provided the offensive spark for the Philadelphia Phillies, hitting two home runs and driving in five runs to lead Philadelphia to a 10-7 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday at Citizens Bank Park. Turner’s power display included a two-run shot in the second inning and a three-run blast in the sixth, helping the home team build and maintain a significant lead.
Turner’s first home run came in the second inning, a 404-foot shot to left field that extended Philadelphia’s advantage to 4-0. Later, in the sixth inning, Turner launched a 346-foot home run to left with bases loaded, turning a 4-3 deficit into a 6-4 lead. His performance included five total runs batted in, anchoring the Phillies' scoring output throughout the contest.
Dodgers Fight Back But Fall Short
The Dodgers initially took the lead in the second inning when Gavin Lux doubled, allowing Mookie Betts to score, followed by a sacrifice fly from Will Smith that put Justin Turner on third. However, Turner’s homer quickly erased that deficit. Los Angeles managed to tie the game at 4-4 in the fourth inning when Freddie Freeman doubled, allowing Betts to score.
The Dodgers briefly took the lead again in the sixth when Max Muncy doubled and Chris Taylor scored, followed by a run from Gavin Lux on an infield single. However, Marsh’s home run in the sixth and Turner’s subsequent blast shifted momentum firmly back to Philadelphia.
The Dodgers attempted a rally in the seventh inning with consecutive home runs from Betts and Harper, narrowing the gap. Betts added another home run in the ninth inning, along with a run from Wilmer Alfonzo, making the final score 10-7. Despite the late surge, the Dodgers could not overcome the early deficit and Turner’s multi-hit performance.
