Residents in and around Pleasanton have a variety of options for the July 4 weekend, which coincides with the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. The holiday falls on a Saturday, creating a three-day break from July 3 to 5.
In Pleasanton, the 24th annual volunteer picnic and concert by the Community Concert Band takes place at Lions Wayside Park at noon. The Alameda County Fairgrounds will also host a full day of entertainment and rides, concluding with a large fireworks display at the same time.
Nearby Livermore offers a family-friendly event at the Municipal Airport starting at 9 a.m., featuring military and remote-control aircraft displays. Later that day, the Robert Livermore Aquatic Center hosts a pool party with music and food trucks. A 5K race and kids run will be held at Sycamore Grove Park on Friday morning.

Danville celebrates its 51st parade from San Ramon Valley High School to Town and Country Drive between 9 a.m. and noon, with the local school district serving as grand marshal.
