Pleasanton police confirmed that at least 25 businesses in the city were burglarized during an incident that began in the early hours of Thursday. This figure represents an increase from the initial report of 18 break-ins. Sgt. Marty Billdt of the Pleasanton Police Department noted that an additional business was targeted, but the suspects were unable to break the window in that instance.
The sequence of events started around 4 a.m. when officers responded to an alarm at the 2700 block of Stoneridge Drive. Upon arrival, they found multiple storefronts with shattered front windows. Shortly after, at 4:35 a.m., dispatch received reports of active commercial burglaries at several locations within Mission Plaza on the 4300 block of Valley Avenue.
Witnesses described four individuals wearing hooded sweatshirts smashing glass windows and removing a cash register from one establishment. The group then fled in a sedan that had no license plates. Officers located the vehicle and pursued it to eastbound Stanley Boulevard. The chase ended west of Highway 84 due to safety concerns, and surrounding law enforcement agencies were notified.
Investigators identified the majority of the victims as restaurants. Specific locations mentioned include six restaurants at Pacific Pearl and four businesses near Santa Rita Road, which included two restaurants, a nail salon, and Perry’s Liquors. Police stated that additional victims may be identified as the investigation continues.
The department reported that 18 commercial burglaries had been recorded in Pleasanton prior to September 10, matching the number of incidents from Thursday morning. Similar early morning break-in sprees targeting local businesses were also reported in Danville on September 1 and in San Ramon on August 4.
