Pleasanton police are investigating a series of coordinated smash-and-grab break-ins that targeted at least ten businesses early Thursday morning. The incidents occurred around 3:50 a.m., with the first reports coming from the Pacific Pearl shopping center near the Livermore Outlets.
Surveillance footage obtained by NBC Bay Area shows suspects breaking into a Korean fried chicken restaurant and fleeing seconds later with cash from registers. Officials identified six restaurants at Pacific Pearl and four businesses along Santa Rita Road as targets, including Perry's Liquors, a nail salon, and two other eateries.
NBC Bay Area witnessed three of the break-ins near Santa Rita Road at approximately 4:30 a.m. A photographer for the station captured a group of four or five individuals dressed in black smashing front glass doors before escaping in a silver vehicle with its lights off.
After NBC Bay Area called 911, three Pleasanton police units arrived within minutes. Officers attempted to box in the suspects' vehicle, but they fled, leading police on a brief pursuit down Valley Avenue and onto Stanley Boulevard.
