The National Merit Scholarship Corporation has announced that 55 students attending schools in Pleasanton have been named semifinalists for the 2027 National Merit Scholarship. The selection includes 30 students from Amador Valley High School and 25 from Foothill High School.
These students earned PSAT/NMSQT exam scores that placed them in the top one percent of U.S. high school seniors. They are now part of a group of more than 16,000 students competing for the title of National Merit Scholar. Recipients of the scholarship receive a $2,500 award to support their continued education.
In addition to the primary scholarship, students on this list may also be offered financial support from colleges, universities, or their parents' employers. The announcement highlights the academic achievement of these local students as they prepare for the next stage of their educational careers.

Roe, Naomi Song, Sahana Sriram, Matthew Sun, Zihan Tian, Kethan S. Vegunta, Dalbert Wu, and Kevin Yu.
