Three Valleys Community Foundation is conducting its second annual 925 GIVES campaign on September 25, a 24-hour initiative designed to raise funds for 85 nonprofit organizations operating in Alameda and Contra Costa counties. The event name references the 925 area code common to the region.
The foundation aims to expand its donor base by engaging first-time contributors and connecting them with local charities they may not have previously discovered.
Kelly Bowers, president and CEO of Three Valleys Community Foundation, stated that the goal is to demonstrate that philanthropy is accessible to everyone, regardless of the size of their contribution. She noted that individual acts of generosity collectively support community health and resilience.
The foundation seeks to build on the success of the inaugural campaign last year, which raised more than $117,000 for 87 local nonprofits.
The 2026 fundraising window opened on August 15 and closes on September 30. As of the time of reporting, 137 donors have contributed $26,237 to 36 participating organizations. This total represents 28% of the campaign’s overall goal of $92,500. The main event day features prize incentives and sponsored matching gifts available from 12:01 a.m. to midnight.
A specific contest honors the late singer-songwriter Dolly Parton, coinciding with the designation of September 25 as Dolly Parton Day in California. The foundation will award $925 to the nonprofit that receives the highest number of unique online donations between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
