Fireworks and a full day of performances are planned at Pleasanton’s Alameda County Fairgrounds on Saturday, Oct. 17, when Dussehra Diwali Dhamaka returns from noon to 11 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time.

The Association of Indo Americans lists music, dancing, carnival rides and food and shopping stalls among the attractions. The Ravan Dehan ceremony and fireworks are scheduled after sunset; exact stage times remain approximate.

For drivers, the important detail is the entrance: organizers direct visitors to Gates 8 and 12 off Valley Avenue. Gate 2 on Pleasanton Avenue will be closed for this event.

The organizer’s event page lists online general admission at $12 and Dandiya admission at $15. Children age 5 and younger enter free. Parking is listed separately at $15, payable by credit card; the page links to advance parking purchases through the fairgrounds.

Check the current ticket options and program before buying or leaving home. The AIA website also links to competition registration and the festival map. This is the fairgrounds festival, separate from the city’s afternoon Diwali celebration at the Pleasanton Senior Center.
