For Pleasanton households with unused California SUN Bucks, the important date is when the money was loaded onto the card. The California Department of Social Services says the funds must be spent within 122 days of that loading date.
That means families do not share one statewide spending deadline. The clock is based on the funds reaching the card, rather than the card arriving in the mail or being activated. CDSS says unused benefits expire after the spending window and cannot be restored.
