The City of Livermore has released a summary of its current initiatives, emphasizing efforts to maintain and improve the region as a place to live, work, and play. Livermore is situated approximately 6 miles east of Pleasanton.

A central focus of these efforts is the management of public assets. The city oversees more than $3 billion in infrastructure, which encompasses streets, sidewalks, traffic signals, streetlights, parks, storm drains, and water systems. To guide future spending, the city utilizes a Capital Improvement Plan that serves as a strategic roadmap for enhancing facilities and public services. Additionally, the city adopted a Climate Action Plan in November 2022. This plan aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, adapt to extreme weather conditions, deploy renewable energy, conserve biodiversity, and ensure equitable access to sustainable resources.

To support these goals, the city is preparing to launch the Livermore Connect application. This new mobile and desktop tool will allow residents to report non-emergency issues with minimal effort. Until the app launches, residents can continue to report code enforcement matters, such as graffiti and abandoned shopping carts, through existing channels. City staff work proactively to address these aesthetic concerns as part of a broader community-wide effort.

Public safety remains a priority, with the Livermore Police Department focusing on talent development and modern technology. The department operates under a mission of service and protection, aiming to provide an exceptional quality of life for residents through education and engagement on safety topics.

In terms of physical development, the city is advancing several notable projects. Construction is currently underway for the L Street Parking Garage in downtown Livermore. Following this, the city plans to expand Blacksmith Square. The city also stated that all new developments must adhere to local, state, and federal laws while maintaining high design standards.

Further improvements are planned for Springtown Open Space. The city has begun implementing amenities identified in a 2017 concept plan. The first phase of this project will include a community garden, an active play zone, a multipurpose field, a pickleball court, shaded benches, a picnic area, and a disc golf course.

The city also noted that it is currently hiring for various positions and encourages interested individuals to apply.
