Maison Benoit, a Danville-based bakery, will open a new location at 337 Main Street in Pleasanton. The business previously secured the Grand Prix at the 2025 San Francisco Best Croissant Competition, defeating more than 350 other entries.
Owner Benoit Vialle, a Lafayette resident and Paris native, stated that the East Bay community’s diverse and well-traveled population aligns with the clientele he has served in Danville since opening the original bakery on Railroad Avenue in January 2024.
Vialle, who previously worked in technology, wine, and real estate, attended culinary school in France where he recruited staff for his business. The Danville location’s head chef is from Paris, while the pastry chef is from Bordeaux. The new Pleasanton site will occupy a portion of the former Bank of America branch, which ceased operations in 2024.
The space is approximately 6,500 square feet, excluding an outdoor patio area.
The project has received city approval, and Vialle is currently in the process of obtaining permits from the Alameda County Health Department and the Pleasanton City Building Department. He aims to open the doors in early 2027. The larger kitchen and production lab will allow the bakery to manufacture all items locally.
