Fire safety expo Saturday brings free breakfast and rescue demonstrations to Busch Road

The Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department's expo runs 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 10, at its training tower, with a pancake breakfast, live demonstrations and Sparky the Fire Dog.

Families can get a free pancake breakfast and watch firefighters run rescue drills Saturday, Oct. 10, at the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department's Fire Safety Expo.

The expo runs from 8 a.m. until noon at the department's training tower, 3333 Busch Road in Pleasanton, and mixes safety lessons with activities aimed at kids.

The Livermore-Pleasanton Firefighters Foundation will serve the breakfast starting at 8 a.m., with pancakes, sausages, orange juice and coffee.

Schedule

  • 8 a.m.: Free pancake breakfast
  • 9 a.m.: Auto-extrication demonstration
  • 9:30 a.m.: Award recognition for an 8-year-old from the area who reported a small blaze at a birthday party, which helped get it put out quickly
  • 10 a.m.: Rescue operation demonstration
  • 11 a.m.: House fire simulation

Around the grounds

Visitors can look over the department's new Type 6 fire truck, try fire extinguisher training and watch firefighter duck races. Sparky the Fire Dog will be on hand to meet children, and the Pleasanton Police Department is bringing a crime scene booth.
