Pleasanton police are reviewing a vandalism case involving a 24-year-old local man who allegedly damaged windows and entered a residence on Hansen Drive. According to the Pleasanton Police Department, the incident occurred early Thursday morning when the suspect mistakenly believed he was at a different address. There is no indication that the residents of the home were specifically targeted.
Officers responded to the 5600 block of Hansen Drive at 12:17 a.m. on Sept. 10 after receiving reports of a gunshot. Upon arrival, PPD Sgt. Marty Billdt stated that the noise was determined to be caused by breaking glass. The suspect, identified as Joshua Martin, had entered the house before law enforcement arrived on the scene. Investigators believe Martin acted alone in the incident.
Police identified Martin based on his admission to a family member that he had been at the residence. While officers were investigating the case, Martin drove to a family home in Livermore. He told relatives he intended to drive to an address in Dublin. Before police could reach him to speak with him, Martin informed a family member of his plan to head to Dublin.
Dublin Police Services located Martin near the specified address in Dublin. Officers determined that he was violating an active restraining order. Martin was subsequently arrested and booked at Santa Rita Jail for that violation. Police clarified that the restraining order was unrelated to the events at the Hansen Drive home.
