Pleasanton to hold 9/11 anniversary ceremony at county fairgrounds

Alameda County Supervisor David Haubert is set to host a military ceremony at the Alameda County Fairgrounds to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks. The event is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 11, and is open to the public at no cost.

The ceremony will be held at the Alameda County Fairgrounds Amphitheater, located at 4501 Pleasanton Avenue. The program is set to run from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., with attendees required to be seated by 9:30 a.m. Those wishing to attend are encouraged to register in advance.

The event will include remarks from Haubert, Alameda County Fire Chief Willie McDonald, and other community and public safety leaders. Speakers who were personally affected by the 2001 attacks will also address the audience.

The program features a presentation of the colors by the Alameda County Fire Department Honor Guard, live musical performances of patriotic songs, a ceremonial bell call, a military rifle salute, and the playing of Taps.

In a statement, Haubert described the date as a time to remember those who died and to honor the responders. He expressed a hope that the community would unite in remembrance and continue the values of service and strength that emerged in the aftermath of the attacks.
