Pleasanton's October community newsletter is out, and much of it is about getting ready for the rainy season.

The city's issue points residents to leaf collection, free sandbags and stormwater information, according to a city summary posted Oct. 7. It also announces that the city's Free Tree Giveaway is back and carries information on the Nov. 3 general election.

Two emergency preparedness events are featured: the city's Fire Safety Expo and the Great California ShakeOut earthquake drill.

On the cultural calendar, the newsletter covers upcoming observances of Diwali and Día de los Muertos as well as Native American Heritage Month, plus fall shows at the Firehouse Arts Center. The issue also promotes Zone 7's flood preparedness open house.

For businesses, the issue lists sponsorship openings for Hometown Holiday, profiles Prosperous Acupuncture Clinic in its Business Spotlight, and rounds up businesses that have recently opened or are coming soon.

The newsletter is available on the city's website.
